This week we wanted to share a little bit about why we called our future wedding venue and wellness retreat “The Cedars” / “The Cedars Ranch”.
Well, the most obvious reason may seem to be that we have a whole lot of beautiful Cedar trees on our 20 acres of Texan hill country land ...
... But “The Cedars” / “The Cedars Ranch” seemed like the perfect name for many more reasons than that.
The place where Bill grew up going to in the summer, in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, is called “The Cedars” and has many fond memories for Bill. And it was on the beach, right outside “The Cedars” that Bill proposed to Marilyn (and where she accepted!).
While contemplating the name a little deeper, we did some research on the Cedar tree. We were delighted to find that Cedars are symbolic for healing and restoration. This is really what we hope to offer - for marriages, families, businesses, and people, here at our ranch.
XeriSmart landscapers (www.xerismartwatersolutions.com) continued to work on our land this week. They are working on the front section near the entryway, clearing out old dead wood and mulching debris. You can see some of our characteristic Cedars in these photos below too!
Tomorrow Coleman and Assoc. (www.colemanandassoc.com), a landscape architecture and environmental design company, visit our land. We have mutually agreed to work together and are excited to see what they dream up!
These sunflowers may offer our new landscape designers some inspiration! Aren't they amazing?
And lastly, for all you fathers out there, hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day!
Have a great week,
Bill & Marilyn.
