We often get asked, especially by friends not living in Texas, “What wildlife do you have?”
We thought it might be fun to share a list of the different creatures we live with here, especially during this pre-open season while it is quiet here. This is not an exhaustive list but is a good start!
Some of the bigger animals here include:
Deer (pictured above)
Eastern Black-Necked Garter Snake (pictured below)
Texas Brown Turantula
Many hundreds of honey bees!!!
Six-Lined Racerunner (lizard - pictured below)
Western Scrub Jay
Lesser Gold Finch
Ruby-Throated Hummingbird & Black-Chinned Hummingbird (pictured below)
Lesser Scaup (flew over)
Giant Swallowtail (pictured below)
Red Admiral (pictured below)
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Oak Hairstreak (pictured below)
Common Buckeye (pictured below)
Other creatures in our garden:
Giant Grasshopper (pictured below)
And of course, many wandering Raccoons ...
These mysterious creatures can also be seen hanging around The Cedars Ranch too ... They may not be native species, but have been welcomed warmly!!
Until next week,
Marilyn & Bill!
