Tender Loving Care

Tender Loving Care

Our garden still needs lots of TLC but it has been fun to start to enjoy watching what is there come along. We have more asparagus on the way but ate a tiny bit this week already. One of the peach trees has started flowering and has quite a few buds ready to open soon. We have some herbs in too, most of which we were able to move to the garden area from elsewhere on the property. I had no idea sage could grow so big! Still lots to learn about gardening in Texas!

As follow up to meetings at the Bridal show we had invitations to a number of open houses at other wedding venues. We were able to attend 3 on Sunday. It has been really helpful to see what makes us different and to benefit from the wisdom and warmth of other owners. For sure we have seen things that we like and that have “wowed” and inspired us. Just as importantly, it has been great to see things that we know don’t fit what we are wanting for The Cedars.

Since we purchased the first 10-acre lot in September we (mainly Bill) have worked hard to clean up and clear some of the Cedar and trim our Oak trees. Although we saw progress it was time to pull in the big guns to have some help. The change in just one day is breathtaking! We have the team for 4 days this week and can’t wait to see how the land looks by the end of the week. (pictures next week, of course!) We are grateful for the friendly recommendation of AJ Tree Services.

Very soon things will be kicking in to high gear. This week and next we will be getting the house ready for de-construction. We are looking forward to having the clean-up crew in soon and to having a blank slate, so to speak, on the land. It will make it easier to picture the layout that The Acre has envisioned.

Until next week,

Bill and Marilyn Orr
