So, How Does That Make You Feel?
Yes, I have asked, and still, at times, ask this question. It can be a super powerful or super annoying question, occasionally it’s both.
As we plan The Cedars it is a very important question to keep coming back to. How do we want it to feel? What emotions do we want to evoke in others? I do find it quite amusing to be asked feeling questions by our amazing architects. It’s so important and relevant to what building products we use, where we place buildings, what art we use, etc.
What do we want? We want The Cedars to feel peaceful, relaxed, really fun, inspiring, casual but beautiful, joyful and life-giving. We don’t want stuffy, we don’t want formal or snobby.
In October we had the pleasure of having 4 friends visit from Connecticut. They graciously offered to contribute something to our project. To set the tone for a fun and creative atmosphere we asked them to paint some of our very unique and super cool dead Cedar trees in one part of the woods. The process was very enjoyable for them - Objective #1 achieved! The results are fun for all visitors to The Cedars! (Objective #2)
Meet our first artists: Ally Rossi, Ryan Rossi, Andy Smida, Seth Hatch
Then something else magical happened, something that keeps happening and that gets us so excited! They had the vision for what we are wanting to create - they caught it! They came back full of amazing ideas for us.
So, above all else I would say that we want The Cedars to feel like a loving, enjoyable community. We want it to be organic. To be influenced by the people who enjoy it with us. We want people to be able to leave their mark in ways that make it even better for other visitors!
Thanks for loving on The Cedars and us Ally, Ryan, Andy and Seth!!! Come again!!!
