For the past few weeks our architects have been busy choosing materials, textures and color finishes for the exterior of the great hall, event bar and plaza. Here's how it is all coming together ...
The team at HA Architecture have been experimenting with wood finishes for the exterior of the great hall. Check out this gorgeous "shou-sugi-ban" wood sample below, by Delta Millworks, Austin.
"Delta Millworks began burning wood in 2007, and we were instantly enthralled by the beautiful textures and grain patterns achieved by taking torches to timbers and boards. Shortly after beginning the craft, we realized we were reviving the Japanese tradition of “shou-sugi-ban.” This process is used to preserve the wood by charring it. The heavily-charred surface of the board makes the wood fire retardant as well as resistant to rot, insects and decay." - Delta Mill Works
As a reminder of where we'll see this beautiful wood finish, here's an early architectural rendering of the exterior of our great hall, produced by The Acre.
Here's a close up of the "shou-sugi-ban" wood which will form the outer “skin” of our great hall.
This week the studs are going up that will support this new great hall exterior material. Exciting!
While the great hall is in the process of an external transformation, the event bar is also undergoing an exciting make-over! Wanting our event bar to compliment the color palette of our emerging wedding and events campus, we've decided to paint our red barn a more neutral color.
Our architects have chosen a more minimal and modern color palette of white and silver for our event bar. More specifically, Dover White for the roof and side wall panels and Silverplate for the front elevation and door.
Here's a quick peek through our great hall at our event bar being primed. It already feels transformed!
Connecting our great hall and event bar will be our tree-lined outdoor plaza, large enough to seat 250 people. Selecting the stone for our plaza and walkways has begun, and we're loving the samples so far.
So you can see how all the pieces are coming together to create a cohesive, inspiring and beautiful space! "Placemaking is a process" as our local architects HA Architecture would say!
Until next week,
