Constructing the Gazebo

Constructing the Gazebo

If you've been following us the last few weeks, you'll know that we've had the "Southern Exposure" permaculture team out on our land, transforming our garden and sections of the surrounding landscape. Well, the work continues! This week the focus has been on constructing our new garden gazebo.

While sitting down to redesign our garden a few weeks ago, we both jumped at the chance to include a gazebo in our upgraded garden plans. We have both spent a lot of time in our garden, and a gazebo opens up that space to enjoying it in a new relaxed way. It's also a great place for future guests and visitors to come and enjoy the garden, and will provide some nice photo opportunities for our newly wedded couples!

Here's Bill in the site marked out for our gazebo construction ...

We're delighted that we can use some of our own cedar logs for the gazebo. Here they are cleaned, prepped and ready to go ...

The gazebo posts going up ...

The posts are up and ready for the next step ...

We're looking forward to seeing our fully constructed gazebo, and spending some quality time in our new super beautiful and sustainable garden!

Elsewhere on site, Southern Exposure have been planting our new berms! So far they have planted plum, peach, apple, satsuma orange. Cover crops there will include clover, dill, parsley, kale, radish, carrot. Exciting!

Until next week,

Bill & Marilyn.
