We often get asked, especially by friends not living in Texas, “What wildlife do you have?” 

We thought it might be fun to share a list of the different creatures we live with here, especially during this pre-open season while it is quiet here. This is not an exhaustive list but is a good start!

Some of the bigger animals here include:

Deer (pictured above)

Grey Fox

Armadillo

Red Squirrel

Grey Squirrel

Eastern Black-Necked Garter Snake (pictured below)

Smaller Creatures:

Many hundreds of honey bees!!!

Six-Lined Racerunner (lizard - pictured below)

Northern Cardinal

Painted Bunting

Mockingbird

Black-Crested Titmouse

House Finch

Lesser Gold Finch

Eastern Bluebird

Carolina Wren

Ruby-Throated Hummingbird & Black-Chinned Hummingbird (pictured below)

Carolina Chickadee

Turkey Vulture

Black Vulture

Summer Tanager

Wilson’s Snipe

Lesser Scaup (flew over)

And of course, many wandering Raccoons ...

These mysterious creatures can also be seen hanging around The Cedars Ranch too ... They may not be native species, but have been welcomed warmly!!
